PJ’s All Darn Day!
You know how every neighborhood has a “cat lady”? You know, the lady who has an inordinate number of mewing, stinky cats running in and out of her house? Her hair is usually disheveled, she is usually over the age of 60, and you can smell the litterboxes from about a block up. Well in my old neighborhood, I used to be the dog-walking leopard-robe lady. Back then I worked from home, and so I had no reason to get out of my admittedly garish robe all day, since no one was going to be seeing me. I’d take my dog for her morning walk alongside people entering and exiting the building in their proper work attire, and get a few humored glances here and there. To boot, much like the cat lady, my sassy-when-styled bob was not quaffed for a night out, and often stuck up on the side I
Good Lookin’ & Low-Maintenance
Normally I’m a pretty low-maintenance kind of gal, but even I have my days when I want to go the extra mile and look fabulous.
Those kind of days seem to be happening more often now that I’ve started seeing someone. Granted I met him at the gym—after a particularly grueling workout, no less—so he’s already seen me at my grimiest. But there’s still enough newness to the relationship that getting dolled up seems like second nature.
Most guys I know insist they don’t mind one way or the other if a girl shaves everyday or even does her makeup, but I suspect they appreciate it. Even if it’s on a subconscious level, I know I’m choosing to look nice for my boyfriend, and it doesn’t go unnoticed.
My latest obsession is Sally Beauty because I’m always well stocked for those nice
Splash Into Summer with Some Pool Time
It’s been a pretty mild summer here in Los Angeles. We kept hearing about the ridiculously hot weather all around the country, but June gloom just seemed to stick around for us here. It wasn’t until a few days ago that we’ve begun to feel the effects of the summer sun. And let me tell you—the sun may have been welcome, but this heat certainly was not.
Seems to me you have one of two choices when faced with such indecent weather: stay in with the air conditioning and become a hermit for the entire summer, or show that heat it can’t get you down with tons of fun cooling activities. I, of course, opt for the latter. And one of my favorite summertime activities is swimming.
Who says swimming is only fun when you’re a kid? Sure, you might need a little more incentive as
This Summer, Let’s Bike Away Our Worries
I live in a city filled with cars. Driving is really the only way to get anywhere in Los Angeles. Sure, we’ve got public transportation, but there’s definitely a risk factor if you choose to use it. And walking is absolutely out of the question. But every once in a while, you get to witness a miracle.
A miracle that is someone riding a bicycle.
Sure, it sounds silly. It sounds absolutely absurd. How is it that the most efficient means of travel has become so outdated? It’s become an activity rather than a way to get from point A to point B. But I can’t help thinking, with the summer here and all, why not embrace the one thing that nobody ever forgets how to do? Let’s relive a bit of our childhood and reignite that sense of carefree excitement! After all, who says only
