Of New Friends And Cell Phone Accessories

Skinit Laptop Skins

The other day a fellow cafe-goer was admiring my phone cover and wanted to know where I found it.  I told her that I paid way too much for it at a generic electronics store (I’ll keep it anonymous), and that I wished I’d thought to shop online earlier.

A number of my friends have found great phone, MP3 and laptop covers for reasonable prices online.  Besides protecting electronics from the inevitable wear and tear, it seems that these accessories have become more and more about expressing individuality—as more luxurious purchases like cars are wont to do—than about actual protection.

Either way, I snooped around for my new cafe friend and found two online electronic accessory stores I’d never heard of.

SkinIt not only carries clever and individualized covers for every electronic known to man, but it also gives you the option of customizing your own covers! Whether you’re a sports fanatic or just want a specific design or color, you can make it happen at SkinIt.com.  And as much as I love my current phone cover, I found at least a dozen more to put on my wishlist—and that’s not even considering the possibilities of personalization tools.  Clearly I need to restrain myself.

What's Your Skin?

Another great find is Accessory Geeks.  Specific to cell phones, they’re stocked head to toe with everything imaginable for your phone: covers, chargers, batteries, holsters—you name it.  It’s the perfect spot for the more practical individual that isn’t all about the fuss and buzz of personalizing every individually owned electronic.  Example?  My dad is always losing his cell phone, so a sturdy holster from AccessoryGeeks.com is now on his birthday list.

What I took away from all this?  A few things.

1) Starting a conversation with someone concerning their cell phone cover is—strangely—an effective way of making friends.

2) A simple question can lead to a few unexpected discoveries, namely SkinIt and Accessory Geeks.

3) I’m going to need to put a lock on the proverbial piggy bank or else I’ll find myself drowning in unnecessary (but awesome) electronic accessory purchases.

And lastly, a friendly reminder that 58Coupons.com is the place to go for SkinIt coupons and Accessory Geeks discounts, in addition to savings from hundreds of other great stores!
