Vitamins from A to Z

Living in Venice Beach, California, I am fortunate enough to have the luxury of scooting down to the local market and ordering an acai smoothie with a vitamin C boost, or a fresh strawberry banana smoothie with a scoop of B-12, or even shot filled to the brim with wheatgrass- all of which contain essential vitamins that help keep my body and, thus, my health and nutrition balanced.

However, Venice is probably the anomaly. Not everywhere can you simply jaunt down to the local spot for a smoothie of your choice chalked full of nourishing vitamins. But it doesn’t mean you can avoid imbibing your essential nutrients! And even if you do have the privilege of having fresh smoothies around the corner, it can still be a challenge to make sure your body is soaking up all the vitamins it needs.

Besides your typical A, B, and C vitamins- the ones we most commonly associate with the word ‘vitamin’- there are other vitamins that are essential for normal cell function, growth and development, rendering us healthy and full of energy. Altogether there are thirteen essential vitamins- essential meaning they are needed in order for your body to function. For example, Biotin is crucial in the metabolism of carbs and proteins and in the production of cholesterol and hormones. Thiamine, on the other hand, aids in converting carbs into energy and is essential for your heart and nerve cells.

The catch is: everybody’s different! What one person may need of Vitamin A may be a completely different amount for the next guy. Luckily, there is a website I discovered that will guide you through this process, allowing you to answer questions about yourself in order to see how much of a vitamin you actually need as an individual. The site is called VitaminID.com. Here, you can take a health survey and order your customized daily vitamin pack. You can even choose which designer box pattern you want for your pack. If I’ve piqued your interest, let me also fill you in on the insider’s discount: you can save $10 with the coupon code, FORME, and save 25% on your customized vitamin pack with the code, SAVE25. Just a head’s up from one insider to another.

If buying the whole vitamin pack doesn’t suit you, there are other options. At VitaminWorld.com, you can buy vitamins separately (as opposed to the vitamin pack at VitaminID.com). You also will save massively as you can receive up to 50% off. Free shipping is also provided with any order of $75 or more.

At VitaminAisle.com, I also found the scoop on savings. This site offers over four hundred brands and you can save 20-70% off on all different shapes and sizes of vitamins.  If you spend $125 or more at VitaminAisle, you can receive $15 off with the coupon code, VA153.

Even for people like me who live close to a healthy market, it can be difficult to make sure the body is getting everything it needs. That’s why it’s reassuring to have websites like VitaminID.com where you can find out exactly what you need in order to stay fit. Plus, I don’t think you’ll be lucky enough to find such discounts at the local market as you do at the online vitamin shoppes!
